Mud Kitchens for Kindergarten Classes

Thanks to the generosity of Bruce Trail Parent Council, the 8 Kindergarten classes are the proud owners of 2 mud kitchens (one for each Kindergarten Play Area). The materials were purchased using Parent Council Funds, built by a parent and a carpentry student studying at Sheridan College. Mud Kitchens offer many learning opportunities for JK & SK students, providing an outdoor learning area for imaginative role play and sensory experience incorporating nature and natural elements.

Academically, students can engage in mathematical opportunities for measuring, filling and emptying as well as fine motor skills, language and social skills. The mud kitchens will also provide students with scientific investigation as materials are mixed and changed. All of which support the Bruce Trail goal of creating a safe and nurturing environment. Perfect for inspiration to intersect with innovation.
